In a rental car corporate account is the company liable for any damage occurred to the vehicles?

At work we just opened a corporate account with a rental car company, and I've been told that employees cannot have use the account number for personal use since the company may be liable for what they've done, is this true?In a rental car corporate account is the company liable for any damage occurred to the vehicles?
Not necessarily. I was involved in a hit and run in a rental vehicle that was assigned to the company I worked for at the time. The company filled out an incident report and that was pretty much it. My insurance company had to deal with finding the guy who hit me and suing him for damages.

The employee can opt to purchase additional coverage for about $10.00 a day to protect themselves. In a rental car corporate account is the company liable for any damage occurred to the vehicles?
companies usually self insure on rentals - so they are right -

if someone rents for personal use under the co. account they will be liable
