I am landing at 10pm on a Thursday in December and I am curious what company would be the best to rent from. The choices are: Hertz, Budget, Dollar, Avis, Thrifty





An economy size is enough and I am looking for cleanliness, price, service.

One agency you didn't mention is Enterprise. I rented from Enterprise at Tampa Airport (it's located right in the airport) and was satisfied with them. They had the best price at the time (January 2009) and I rented an economy sized car. The car (a Chevy Aveo) rode great, no problems whatsoever. The staff was friendly and informative, giving me some great directions. They even gave me some recommendations on where to eat in the Tampa area. Just to help, but I also rented from Enterprise when I needed a ride home from Tampa International one night. They were great. Liked the car I rented so much that I went out and bought one the next week. Very clean, very reasonably priced, very nice people. Have fun in Tampa!
