How come when i want to free upgrade my rental car at enterprise?

I end up paying more? Also the under age fee they use to wave it for now they say there getting audit can't do it anymore every time i would go they would do it for me.How come when i want to free upgrade my rental car at enterprise?
you got lucky in not paying the under 25 fee.....and as far as the free upgrade....they will ONLY do that if they don't have the vehicle that you reserved on hand. There is no such thing as a FREE upgrade if they have your requested vehicle on hand. Sorry.

You just got lucky before and now they are making you pay the same thing as everybody else gets charged!

  • Is the other person insurance company obligated to provide rental car?

I was not guilty of the car accident. I need transportation to go to school and work.Is the other person insurance company obligated to provide rental car?
Have the completed their investigation and accepted liability?

Until they do that- you will have to rent a car at your own expense.

Remember -we can't see the damage to your car. If it is possible for a temp repair to be done to the car to make it safe to drive - you can do that. If the other company accepts liability they will reimburse you. Examples of a temp repair would be pulling the fender off the tire so it does not rub.Is the other person insurance company obligated to provide rental car?
there is no obligation for the 'other' person's insurance company to provide you a rental car. there may be an oblication in your insurer's policy.

however you are entitled to recoup any costs arising out of the other perties actions, assuming they (and their insurer) have admitted liability.

that means that they should refund any legtimate claim you kmay have for renting a car whilst you are deprived of your car by their clients actions. however that does mean that you shouldn't be drivign round in a limo if you car was a (say) a 10 yr old fiesta. however before going out to hire a car I'd recommend that you contact 'their' insurers and state that you hold them liable for the cost of replacement transport until your car is repaired. get them to accept the principle and try to get them to agree what is appropriate. the last thing you should do is incur costs if their insurers refuse to pay the bill.

some car repair centres provide a replacement car whilst the car is being repaired. again you may have to ask for that at the time the car goes into be repaired.

but you cannot use this as a pretext for waht the insurers may deem as unreasonable... ie if you car is drivable they would not agree to paying for car hire, only if the car was undrivable would they do so.
Not necessarily. You may find it is better to go through your own insurance company. Besides, they can better advise and help you
if they're the ones who are guilty of the accident their insurance company should pay for your rental.
    Insist on one.

I'd see if your insurance agent can help with getting the other insurance company to cough up for the rental.
If you are fully comp. go through your own insurance company. That is what you pay them for. If they get their money back it will not affect your no claims bonus or premium

Where can i find the cheapest rental car?

I would like to find the cheapest rental car possible. I need one with unlimited mileage that is in Tucson az. I will be traveling from Tucson AZ to Anaheim ca (Disneyland) this weekend. I am fine with just a small 2 door compact car.Where can i find the cheapest rental car?
I am assuming a weekly rental for a car picked up at the Tucson International Airport (TUS) and driven to Disneyland and back to the airport. I checked on Expedia and economy rentals starting at $220 at Thrifty and going up for bigger cars 鈥?Hotwire has an economy car starting at $180. With Hotwire, you do not know the agency that does the rental until you book it 鈥?I have used them a bunch of times with no problems. Your rates may vary based on pick up and drop off dates. Many agencies have coupons for discounts on weekly rentals, so you might want to do a search for those as well. Good luck and safe travels!Where can i find the cheapest rental car?
The easiest thing to do is go to a booking site where you can compare multiple companies at once. When you find the cheapest car rental company, try going to their website directly, first, to see if they have any specials or deals that will give you an ever lower rate.

You can also try to check car rental rates using a discount code if you qualify. There are hundreds of membership programs and professional associations that offer car rental discount codes to their members. How do I get the best deal on a rental car, and what about insurance?

I am going to Orlando for 4 days/3nights, and want to rent a car while I am there, but I want to get the best price I can. What is the best way to do that...tips/suggestions? I'm also a bit confused about the whole insurance issue, since this is my first time renting a car. I really don't want to have to pay double just to get insurance if I don't actually need it. Please explain.

Thanks! How do I get the best deal on a rental car, and what about insurance?
    Ex-Enterprise employee here.

First of all how old are you? If under 25 you almost have to rent Enterprise. Call to verify this. Other than that, cheapwise your best bet would probably be someone like Dollar. Your best bet for pricing would be to get online and make your reservation that way. To do otherwise leaves you at the mercy of the rental people. Travel websites often have pretty good deals.

Insurance. They will likely offer 3 options. Damage Waiver, Supplemental Liability Protection, and Personal Accident Insurance. The first covers the car, so any thing you do to the car is covered...up to wrecking it. SLP covers damage you might do to someone else's property. PAI covers you and your belongings and anyone in the car. Your own insurance will cover you...unless you have Progressive(check on that). However, if you aren't a solid driver it might be a good idea to go with Damage waiver if you're concerned about someone bumping the car in a parking lot while you're away or a shopping car hitting it or something. Do not get SLP or PAI.

If you have a credit card that says you are covered in a rental car...you are not. The credit card would only extend your credit limits to pay for the damage to the rental...you would then be stuck paying off the balance. Just as an FYI.How do I get the best deal on a rental car, and what about insurance?
I would check with your car insurance to see if they will cover that vehicle. Most car insurance will cover a rental car as long as you have full coverage. Now as far as rental cars type in compare rental car rates and see what you get.
Check with your insurance company and see what is covered. Usually you don't need anything else. We never do..

    Tips for good deals :

Check out priceline. I just rented one on there for next week in Orlando for $19 a day.

Hotwire is another good option for discounted rentals...it will list the car but not the car company until you accept the offer. But what does it matter? They are all good reputable companies.

Go to ebay and search rental car companies....you can find coupons for Budget, Hertz .etc...sometimes it a free day..free upgrade etc...use that coupon at the car company website.

    Good luck...
The best deal can frequently be obtained by doing research over the internet before you get there. There may be weekend deals and so on. Call your hotel and see what sort of deal they may provide.

My experience with Orlando is that it's difficult to find a deal, although this is somewhat of a tourist lull, so you may find one.

As for insurance, here's a couple things to do:

    1. Call your car insurance company and ask what's covered when you rent a car. They may already cover you up to your deductible. Maybe they don't.

    2. Check your credit card. My credit card, a travel Visa, covers the insurance when I pay for the rental using the credit card.

    3. Buy travel insurance. Frequnetly you can add car rental insurance for nothing extra.

    http://www.travelguard.com/
You can do online searchs for rental cars. If you do this though call the company on the phone just to confirm your order. You can also just compare prices always allow for more...just in case the vehicle your geting rates for is not available when you get there. If your own insurance doesnt cover a rental...then get the insurance that the rental company offers. Its better to be safe than sorry...it covers the car if anything happens. Im speaking from personal experience here...out of the 6 times ive rented a car ive paid the insurance for it...the last time i was running low on cash and opted to not get the insurance and someone opened thier door into the side of the rental...i was responsible for this since the other vehicle just left the scene. Good luck..hope this helps.

How do I complain about a rental car company if they won't give any satisfaction?

Omega Rental cars basically told us to get lost when we complained about the fact that they upgraded us to a larger car without our permission. We wanted a small car to save petrol, be environmentall friendly etc. They even took our copy of the rental agreement from us when we returned the car and will now not respond to my emails asking for the name of a manager! How do I complain about a rental car company if they won't give any satisfaction?
Go up as high in the chain of command to the corporate office if you have to. If that doesn't work, every company must get a business license or permit so contact the city's agency that licenses them; the city might also have corporate phone numbers. The company may also be licensed as a corporation with the state attorney general. You can also report them to state consumer affairs and the better business bureau. Of course it is a spin of the dice with government agencies: will they help you or just jerk you around. Finally you can legally threaten to sue them in small claims court for damages. Send them a demand letter by certitied mail. www.16lunchtime42.com.How do I complain about a rental car company if they won't give any satisfaction?
Do they have a corporate office? You can try that or the Better business bureau - local ombudsman ...

Car Dealerships: Are they obligated to give you a rental car if your part is on backorder?

I sent in my car to the local nissan dealership to have a mass air flow sensor replaced (and some other repairs totalling $800). They told me it would take two days. It turns out they have to order the part from Japan and it will take up to 2 weeks. Are they obligated to give me a rental if I ask for it?Car Dealerships: Are they obligated to give you a rental car if your part is on backorder?
No they are not, however, many dealers do this as a courtesy to thier customers.Car Dealerships: Are they obligated to give you a rental car if your part is on backorder?
No, you could talk to the service mngr and ask for one. He will prolly say no, but its worth asking. Then ask to speak with the GM and tell him you were promised it would only take 2 days. He will more than likely work something out with you. Work the system!!!
No. But you are free to go rent yourself a car. They are not responsible for your inconvenience.
no but alot of dealers will-even if they use a rental car company- just ask and find out
Only if the car is under warranty. Any warranty will pay for the rental. The dealership has no obligations to give you a rental car.
i was in the same boat i had a chevy tho. but asked them because if its a new car than they would have 2 give u sumthin 2 drive and get around! but if its a used car i really dont kno but u should if it has a warranty on it.
No they are not obligated to give you a rental. It is your responsibility to obtain your own transportation.
    No.

Our car broke down in Washington (we are Canadian), and we have to leave it here to get fixed. We also must be at home by tomorrow. Is there any rental car company that will allow us to drive one-way from Washington to Canada. Or any other ways we can get home?Is there a rental car company that will allow us to drive one-way from the USA to Canada?
Probably so but you will probably pay a horrendous 'drop-off' fee. Call all the majors in the area and see if they have a Canadian car that needs to go back. You might even try the truck rental places like Ryder or U-Haul. The fuel could eat your budget. Is there a rental car company that will allow us to drive one-way from the USA to Canada?
    what about enerprise or avis.

How old do you have to be to drive a rental car in Flordia?

My family and I are heading down to Orlando next week on vacation to get some warm weather rather than Winnipeg's 0 degree weather. My parents are renting a car from an unknown car rental company. Is there an age limitation for being able to drive rental cars? Another important key is that I'm from Canada. I'm soon to turn 17 but hold an intermediate stage on my license. How old do you have to be to drive a rental car in Flordia?
it really depends on the car company .. and if your parents decide to put you down as one of the drivers... but that would be highly doubtfull because they will add extra insurance to the cost of the car .. and its not cheep if your under 21 it could add as much as $100 a day if they decide to put on as a driverHow old do you have to be to drive a rental car in Flordia?
For most car rental companies in the US the age is 25, but some companies will rent a car at 22 years old with an added daily fee (usually between $10-$25 per day of rental). As part of the rental agreement only the person on the agreement is allowed to operate the vehicle. So if the reservation is in your dad's name and he fills out all the paper work and signs at the kiosk, not even your mom is supposed to drive the car. Obviously, there's no way to enforce this, but if there were an accident there would be $$$ problems. I don't know what Florida's laws are for citizens of other countries operating vehicles with learner permits. Check the Florida DMV.

I would leave all the driving to your parents, but if you want to drive down a street just to say 'hey i drove in Florida' I don't think the world will end.
I do not know of a U.S. based rental car company that rents to anyone under the age of 18. Sorry, underage car rentals are hard to come by.

There is one company based in Orlando (EZ Rent a Car) that is known for its flexible rental policies. They rent to individuals under 25 -- and this sets them apart from other companies. Most rental car companies will rent to renter 25 and up.
18 at minimum, and even then they usually only rent to people who get in car accidents and need a car while theirs is in the shop, or there are companies like UHaul that will rent moving trucks to 18 year olds. The vast majority of car rental companies will only rent to people who are 25 or older, and the few that do rent to younger customers charge extra fees.

    Just let your parents drive.
18, once you get your license

What insurance is needed for rental car in California?

My son leaves Ireland tomorrow Sat 17th Nov to fly to San Diego. He has rented a car to drive to Seattle - everything appears to be arranged. But I want to check he has adequate car insurance that is needed/required? He is over 25 years and has normal Travel Insurance. What insurance is needed for rental car in California?
Many credit card companies will cover insurance requirements if you use their credit card to rent the car. However, your son should have checked with his credit card carrier before he left. Once he gets to the counter in the U.S. it will not be practical to check. And since he's already left Ireland (since today is Sunday 11/18) that probably won't be helpful information for your son. However, manybe someone else reading this will be helped by this information.

Once your son is here he'll be pressured to sign up for every bit of insurance he can buy, whether he needs it or not. Rental car companies make tons of money this way. What insurance is needed for rental car in California?
He needs at least liability insurance to get a rental car. More is always preferred, but I think thats the minimum.
When I drove in California it was included in the hire charges
Anyone renting a car in the US from overseas will be able to purchase all the insurance he needs through the car rental company, liability and collision. He'll be completely covered if he asks for total insurance coverage.

Does the dealership provide a rental car if my car was recalled?

I have to make an appointment to have my car serviced and for the dealership to make modifications to my side airbags due to a recent recall on my vehicle. I'm also having some other mechanical issues. My car is financed through Ford Credit, still under warranty, and only 2 years old. Will the dealership provide a rental car? I would like to know before I call and make the appointment. I need to make my transportation arrangements ahead of time.Does the dealership provide a rental car if my car was recalled?
If it's been recalled then it's up to the manufacturer to make that call on the rental. I know some dealers offer what is called ';loaners'; but I'm not sure if there is any cost to that or not.

I assume that you've already asked the dealer about this issue. In which case your answer is no the dealer cannot provide a rental. Did you try to check with your insurance? They may have more info. Best of luck!Does the dealership provide a rental car if my car was recalled?
Usually the dealership itself will loan you a car. Ask about getting a loaner when you call to make the appointment.
ask them i take my car to the hiundai dealer and they let me borrow one !! for 2 days but for shure they have a shuttle van and you get a ride home !!
If you didn't get an extended warranty that provides free rental cars then you are on your own, some dealerships do provide complimentary rental cars however, call them up and find out

unfortunatley i believe you're confined to the high premiums of the company if you don't have your own for a car you currently own

Yes Yes and Yes! It's very important to have rental insurance. Let's say you park the car on the street, and come back and its side swipped. They are going to come after you for it But if you have insurance, it should cover it.

You'll definitely have to. How else will they be covered if you get into an accident? Try this. After you sell your car go ahead and remove the car from your policy. But don't cancel your policy just yet. You can use this same policy to cover your rental. You'll save buckets of money.
More then likely yes! In most states today it is a requirement to have auto insurance to drive a vehicle. And rentals I believe you have no choice, you have to have insurance. If you totaled that vehicle without insurance your paying for it out of pocket!
Why you limit yourself to the rental car insurance? Maybe you can have more choices.

Rental car agencies are located on the lower level near the baggage claim areas of Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Please look for signs and courtesy phones. From Terminal 5, rental car agencies are available by courtesy telephones located on the lower level. Many rental car agencies also offer courtesy buses to various automobile pick-up/drop-off areas. I am planning to sell my car and cancel my auto insurance. If I want to rent a car, am I required to buy their rental car insurance, since I wouldn't have any other auto insurance otherwise?

Am I required to get rental car insurance if I don't have my own auto insurance?
This is usually included with the payment plan for your rental car. Most car rental places are required to have car insurance for their rentals because THEY own the vehicle. So basically auto insurance works like this: If you OWN the vehicle you are responsible to have auto insurance. If you want a tag on a car you have to have auto insurance FIRST. So if the car you rent has a tag on it already, then it is insured through that car rental company. If you have to put a tag on the car (which is unusual) you have to get your own auto insurance. The DMV will tell you this. Just try to get a car tag without insurance.Am I required to get rental car insurance if I don't have my own auto insurance?
By law, rental companies must provide the state required amount of liability insurance. Generally, these amounts are low and do not provide much protection. Often the state mandated minimum is $20,000 per person / $40,000 per accident. If you are responsible for paying for someone's injury because of an at fault accident how far do you think $20,000 would go? After the $20,000 is paid out the bills go to you. (ouch!)

You are not required to purchase the LDW - Loss Damage Waiver but then you are responsible for any damage to the vehicle, If the car is stolen you will be buying them a new car. However you might want to check your credit card they may offer some limited coverage (but don't forget to use that card when you are renting the car)
It depends on the state where you live, but you should carry some kind of insurance. If you have personal auto insurance, alot of times it is transferable to the rental- call your insurance agent and ask. The rental company may not check for your insurance and just ask you to sign a paper agreeing that you have insurance. However if you lie and something happens, you're SCREWED and will have to pony up the money to pay any car damage that occurs.
No, you aren't required as the car rental place has their own insurance, but if you don't get the insurance from them, then you would be on the hook for any damages incurred in a accident or whatever... Some credit cards include rental insurance automatically if you use the card to pay for the rental, but you need to read your credit card agreement for the details.
Most car rental locations carry liability coverage for their vehicles, so check the one you want to rent from to make sure basic public liability and property damage would be included in your rate. This would not cover damage to the rental car, so as others have stated, you should check to see if you have any coverage for that through your credit card, or you could purchase the ldw or cdw from the car rental company directly.

    http://www.best-car-rental-tips.com/rent鈥?/a>
no you are not required to purchase the rental coverage , but if you do have an accident the rental car company can and will come after you for the damages including sending you to a collection agency and informing credit agencies
No, you are not required to get the insurance. Check your credit card benefits. Sometimes they provide insurance if you use the credit card to rent the vehicle.
Check with your insurance company. They may offer a non-owners insurance policy for situations like yours.

  • Is it necessary to buy Rental Car Insurance even though i have my car insurance policy with me?

I have a car and have taken Auto insurance for it.

Now my question is if i take a rental car, then my auto insurance policy for my car covers it or i need to take separate insurance for the rental car? When i took the auto insurance policy, they have taken my car details and its present in the insurance card also.

If i need to take insurance for rental car, what type of insurance do i need to take excluding my auto insurance policy coverage that applies to all cars?

Also if i am driving someone else car, will my insurance cover if there is any accident i have made?Is it necessary to buy Rental Car Insurance even though i have my car insurance policy with me?
When you rent a car, you have to have full coverage on the care that you own (your personal vehicle) and then that will automatically carry over to the rental. If you do not have full coverage you can add it to your existing policy for the amount of time you'll be renting the car OR just buy the insurance from the rental place. And to answer your other question, no your policy will not cover somebody else's car just because you're driving it. Insurance covers vehicles, NOT people, even if you were in an at fault accident, your friend/relative's insurance would have to cover that loss.Is it necessary to buy Rental Car Insurance even though i have my car insurance policy with me?
My mistake. I thought your insurance covered you, not the vehicle being used.

I think it varies from state to state. In Michigan, primary coverage goes with the driver, not the vehicle. Your policy pays no matter what you're driving. Looks like in Georgia it goes with the car.

No, you don't need the insurance a rental company tries to sell you. Just understand that if something happens to the rental, you (your insurance) are responsible. This means paying your whatever your insurance deductible is.

But since CDW (collision damage waiver) is about $20/day on top of the rental rate, if you rent a car for ten days, you're out $200. If you have a $500 deductible, did you save that much? No.

It's profit for the rental company if you don't use it, possible profit for you if you do ding up the rental.

You are covered in any car you drive, by your insurance. Check your policy and state laws.
you don't need rental car insurance. you can take it, but for the most part, its just another way for the car rental firm to make more money. if you don't take the rental insurance and you do have an accident, the claim will be filed your car's insurance.

if you are driving someone else's car and have an accident, it may not be covered since you are not an insured driver under that vehicle
Ok. You have asked 2 different coverage questions here.

Let me answer the first one. No you do not need to purchase the car rentals insurance. They will tell you that you need there rider insurance as your insurance company will not pay for the cars rental while the car is being fixed. That is bunk. You have a deductable regardless if you are the guilty party. If you are hit by someone else then there insurance company pays the rental fee loss.

Now for question number 2 if you are driving another person car you will need to look up on your auto insurance policy to see if you are cover or ask the agent.

(please see your coverage for all answers above)
yes by all means buy the insurance... they can sue you.. that insurance covers you for collision and libality... the extra price is worth it .. if you damage that car or someone lets say scratches it or puts a dent in the door you are liable.... when you rented the car with all that paper work you AGREED TO PAY FOR DAMAGES.. ok buy it..
Your policy only covers your vehicle and the the drivers of said vehicle. Other specified drivers can be named on your policy (like a spouse, parent, room mate etc..). The insurance does not carry over to other vehicles unless you include another vehicle on your policy (second car, child's car). You will pay for coverage on each vehicle that you have designated to the policy.

If you are looking to rent a car for travel purposes, the lease will include a charge for for the insurance coverage of the vehicle that you're renting. Companies like Hertz, have deals with insurance companies to pay a flat rate for their rental cars. The amount of coverage that you will pay depends on the amount of travel or time of lease. Again, this surcharge will be included in your rental fee.

If you drive someone else' car and have an accident, the insurance of the owner or policy holder of that vehicle will have to cover the damage. Again be careful, because while a few states offer policies in which any driver of a vehicle is coverered, most states require you to list the names of drivers on your policy. If a listed person has a lot of violations or is a high-risk driver, having them on your policy will cost you more.

    * It is true that in states that do not require auto insurance, you are free to opt out of the insurance offered by the leasing company; however, if anything happens to the vehicle, you are financially liable. If you're spending the money to lease a vehicle, then the extra $10-20 daily coverage is certainly worth the expense and will save you the hassle of taking out year long rental coverage with your own insurance co. After all, how many times throughtout the year do you find yourself renting a vehicle?

What is minimum the age for driving a rental car in Illinois?

My friend and I are planning a road trip for next summer to Six Flags Great America. I live out of state (used to live in IL) , and therefore may have to use my parents' rental car. I thought the minimum age was 25 to drive a rental. However, my cousin drove a rental car recently and he is 21. So what is the actual minimum age to drive a rental car? Thanks! What is minimum the age for driving a rental car in Illinois?
Generally, most rental companies will not rent to anyone under the age of 25.

However, if you have or a parent rent the vehicle in their name, and if you are listed on the rental agreement, you would be covered. You have to pay extra though for each additional driver on the rental agreement. What is minimum the age for driving a rental car in Illinois?
The usual minimum age to RENT a car is 25. You can rent with most companies if you are 21 for an extra fee (Usually $25 per day extra) The minimum age for an ADDITIONAL DRIVER (which is what you would be considered on your parents' rental car) is 25 and you must have a credit card as well. Hope this helps.
Enterprise will allow you to Rent a car starting at 21 and has a Underage fee of $15 a day. We did that to go up to Chicago not too long ago.

Do rental car companies have a way to check if you drive outside the states they say are allowed?

I'm trying to pick up a rental car from JFK airport to drive to Boston and the rental car places are saying it's only ok to drive in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Would they have any way to know if I drive to Boston via a GPS or lo-jack or something? What would they do if they saw me going into Massachusetts?Do rental car companies have a way to check if you drive outside the states they say are allowed?
Yes, it's called GPS. You would be in violation of your rental agreement. I suppose the company could charge you extra or report the vehicle as stolen. What if you were involved in an accident while you were outside the area you are allowed and agreed to remain in when you signed the rental contract.Do rental car companies have a way to check if you drive outside the states they say are allowed?
The GPS system will show where you are. And there can be all sorts of messy things, the company can charge you more, or you can end up at a police station, for stealing the car. And if you make an accident outside the allowed area, you can find the insurance company won't pay. So my advice is to respect the contract.
Now days most of them are equipt with gps, however the large companies really don't care where you go unless you have car problems.

How do I claim my deductible and rental car insurance from someone without insurance?

What is the best way for me to get my money back (deductible and rental car costs) from someone who caused the accident, but who's insurance turns out to not be valid? She is insured with Geico, however when I called them - they said it is likely that there is something wrong with her policy and they will probably not cover the cost of the accident. I'm guessing she didnt pay her monthly bill, or something similar which caused them to void her coverage. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to recover my expenses for the accident she caused? How do I claim my deductible and rental car insurance from someone without insurance?
Legally, your carrier is abrogated to your right of recovery. As you may know, this is just for the amount that they pay. However, your carrier has as much right to _anything_ paid by the other person as you do. So if you collected anything from the other person, your carrier would legally be entitled to at least a portion of it.

You could let your carrier seek recovery of the amount they are owed and usually this would include asking for your deductible but seldom will they ask for your rental payment. Also, it's unlikely that they will collect much of anything.

With that said, about your only recourse is to file in small claims court. This will get you a peice of paper called a judgement. It's not money... it's just a judgment. Still no guarentees you will be able to collect. If you could/do... I'd say keep it and let you carrier find out on their own if they can. That is just my opinion.

My other recommendation is to make sure the police or at least the state knows that this person is uninsured (if GEICO confirms this). That way the state can suspend the person's drivers license until they pay you what she owes. If the state does not find out, she will continue to drive and cause someone else the same loss you suffered. How do I claim my deductible and rental car insurance from someone without insurance?
    1. Depending on your state, you may be able to collect using small claims court.

    2. Otherwise, if you have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage on your vehicle, you can use that and your insurance will go after her.

    3. Sometimes other insurance companies like to dink around hoping that you will pay for your own repairs. You can make a complaint with your states insurance board/attorney general's office/better business bureau or you can let them know that you plan on filing a complaints(sometimes that puts a little fire under them and suddenly paperwork gets found and claims go through.)

  • How do I start a used car rental car business?

    How do Iget insurance?

How do I get a license to rent cars?

What is the minimum age required to rent cars to people in PA?How do I start a used car rental car business?
I have owned many businesses but this was not one of them. It is hard to set up and costly and you have lots of competition from the big guys which are franchises like Hertz, Dollar, Avis etc.

Many people use these big companies because they get perks or their company uses them exclusively. Much of the business nowadays for rental car companies is Big Business (Intel, Microsoft, Disney, MGM etc). The employees travel and pick up cars at different locations all paid for my the company. These companies only use the TOP GUNS like Hertz.

That leaves you with the little guys who want cheap rentals and the insurance company payments for car body repairs.

Most states have a 25 yrs old minimum age to rent a car for insurance reasons. Also the insurance for a business like this is super high and can make you are break you. Check with a reputable company like Allstate for a quote. Check with the local Chamber to find out how many rental companies there are in your area.

Google maps it. I could give directions, but you need to see the map and exactly how far that is. Expect to be gone for a long time. Like a day's drive each way. Understand your cell phones wont work through much of that so if there's an emergency, be prepared. First aid kids and food is a must.

How much should I pay for a rental car in Amman, Jordan?

I live in Jordan but rely solely on public trans to get to work and around the city. Now I'm planning a trip and will need a rental car. Anyone who has recently traveled to (or currently lives in) Amman, do you know how much I should expect to pay per day for a rental car? I'll be renting one for about 4 days and I'm thinking it should be 4x4 as we'll be taking it into the southern desert near Wadi Rum. Prices for 4x4 and compact cars are welcomed if you know. Thanks in advance for your help! How much should I pay for a rental car in Amman, Jordan?
We rented a car before in high season(summer) and it was pretty expensive...I think it was around 500-800 dollars not dinars for 2 weeks, that could have been because we rented it in high season.

Check around. Dont go with the first car you find. How much should I pay for a rental car in Amman, Jordan?
It depends on what kind of car you are getting..what make what model what year..automatic or manual..even if theirs a cd player prices can vary...if ur just getting an average car then dont pay more then 15 jd a day...and u can usually negotiate if u r getting the car for a longer period of time..

I worked in Amman for two years and can't remember the prices then (and they may have changed). But we used Europa Car as it had the best rates then (we also rented car/driver for the office for a long time for Amman).
If you are looking for good price, do not go for Avis, Hertz or other worldwide names.

Try Amman Guide ( dalilak fi Amman) %26amp; You will find hundreds of rental's agents with a great prices.

Last year I rented a car for JD20/a day -unlimited millage.

And if you ask for a monthly plan - especially now - you will get a good deal.
Hey! Well Idk about a 4x4, but I know you should probably check out Avis.com! They rent cars in Jordan all the time.. I live in Jordan too! And we're both American, so I know how it feels to be tricked! E-Mail me, I swear Im not a weirdo lol, I go to an American Church and everything! How do get insrance to get a rental car?

I need a rental car but the i need to get full coverage and only need it for a couple days and my insurance company won't help and i tried esurance and they don't offer service in Iowa. Can any one help? How do get insrance to get a rental car?
If your own insurance will not cover your rental then your next best is to purchase the Rental companies own insurance. If you do so then make sure you are insured and the car you rent is insured to the point that you are not liable for ANY damage whatsoever. Then drive drive drive. How do get insrance to get a rental car?
Why wold you need to get insurance on a rental car? The car is insured by the rental agency.
If you are using a credit card to rent the car, check with the credit card company. Most times, they give you free insurance coverage for a rental car if you use that credit card (note: pay off credit card at end of billing cycle to avoid finance charges)
You can use insurance offered by a credit card company. But, there is always some but. You cannot have any car insurance on your own. It means that if you currently have your own car insurance, then the credit card company will not cover you. They use the term 篓primary篓 when you read their terms. As I remeber credit card insurance would have to be your primary car insurance. Anyway check what I麓m writing here. Just giving you some hints.

What rental car company do you like best?

going to Seattle and I want a good deal. I also want to pick it up at the Airport without taking a shuttle to somewhere else. What rental car company do you like best?
my dad used Hertz and we liked itWhat rental car company do you like best?
I like Enterprise. They'll pick you up from the airport if they don't have a counter there.

    .
    hertz
Enterprise. It is the best. Plus they pick you up too. Staff there is always curteous. I have always had very nice experience there. Welcome to Seattle.
Both Hertz and Enterprise are good companies. In my experience, the service you get depends on the branch you are using.

There is one Enterprise branch in my area that is awful. I never use them unless the customer specifically requests it. But the other Enterprise branches are really good.

The Hertz branch in my area is great. They are on top of it and will go the extra mile for my customers.

As far as the insurance replacement market - Enterprise is the big dog on the street. Hertz is the new kid trying to break in and so they will sometimes do more because they want the business.

The two companies are set up different and this can affect which you want to use.

At Enterprise- the location owns the cars. So what ever location you rent the car from - that's the one where you have to return the car.

At Hertz- it's more of a fleet approach (like U Haul does). So the car can be rented at one location and returned at another. So these guys are great for one way drops (example: you rent the car in Florida and return it to a New York branch).

Both companies have a drop off- pick up service. Both companies have cars that are new. The rates are pretty comparable.

As far as air port business goes- Hertz is probably your best bet.

Enterprise is really focused on the insurance replacement market. Hertz has always been strong in the air port/vacation market. Hertz has a fleet of over 200 cars at the airport location in my area. It's only in the past 3 years that they have been getting into the insurance replacement market.

Both Hertz and Enterprise are good companies but for an air port rental - I'd talk to Hertz first.
For a fourth straight year, Enterprise Rent-A-Car ranks highest in customer satisfaction, according to our firm's 2007 Rental Car Study. Enterprise performs particularly well in five of thhese 6 meausres: costs and fees, pick-up process, rental car, return process and shuttle bus/van. It also has a location at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Enterprise is followed in our firm's study rankings by Hertz and National, respectively. National performs particularly well in the reservation process factor, specifically with telephone reservations.

Does Chevy provide a rental car when something happens to your new car?

I bought my 2007 Chevy Equinox last year and its dead, We had 2 companies come and try to jump it and it wont work, it says battery is full. So something else is wrong. Do you know if Chevy provides a car for us in the meantime? Or will it cost us to get a rental?Does Chevy provide a rental car when something happens to your new car?
i would say yes.. call roadside assistance have them tow it to the nearest Chevy dealer, they should provide you with a loaner, cause it will most likely take them more then 24 hours to fix the vehicle if they need to order a part.. but yes I'm pretty sure they will supply you with a rental..Does Chevy provide a rental car when something happens to your new car?
The dealer where you bought the car may provide you with a rent car, if the repair is 1- under warranty, 2-will take longer than one day to fix, 3-it (the rent car) is provided for in the warranty. Most dealers won't provide a rent car, until they find out what is wrong with yours. so the work load in the shop is also a factor in all of this. Now the as far as the battery, for some reason. Most batteries that come in new cars only last about two years. Don't ask me why, but that seems to be the norm. The little green dot can be bright as it can be, but that doesn't mean that it is any good. Only a load test can confirm that. You may get them to warranty it, but your going to have to raise h#ll about it. Good Luck
I doubt Chevrolet is going to send you anything more than a letter apologizing for the inconvenience. The dealer where you bought it should give you a loaner and come get it to fix it. It's a 2007, so it does have a warranty. Not all dealers will do that, but it's worth a shot.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this. Check the ground to the frame member from the battery. They are known to work loose on some GM vehicles.
    if its under warranty
the chevy dealership should back it up by giving you a rental car if they don't, raise a fuss till they give you one
Equinox will be discontinued in the future!! You are not the only one with problems. I hate selling Equinox because they are not reliable vehicles and I hate lying to the customers when they want to test drive.

You vehicle should still be under warranty. Something you need to fight. Enterprise should be able to help you out with a rental. maybe not even pay full price. bcuz otherwise, what is warranty for.

What Rental Car place will let me drive from California to Washington?

I want to drive up to Washington so my boyfriend can visit his brother, but the rental car place I've seen do not allow you to drive the car past Washington or Nevada. Can anyone tell me any (cheap) places that will allow me to drive that far?

p.s. I know I can lie and drive there anyway, but I'd rather not! What Rental Car place will let me drive from California to Washington?
If you drive out of state in a local rental, the car place can charge you with auto theft if they want.

Try avis, hertz, dollar. They all offer one way rentals or just more mileage with a weekly rental. But you will still have to pay if you have used more miles than your agreement...What Rental Car place will let me drive from California to Washington?
Dollar has always given me unlimited mileage and has not given me a problem driving between states. I drove from Arizona to Yellowstone and back in a Dollar van. I drove from Phoenix to LA and back in a Dollar van and had to exchange it in San Diego due to engine problems. They never gave me a hassle nor did they ever tack on extra charges. When they say unlimited miles they must mean it. The guy below me doesn't know what he's talking about. I've rented from Dollar all over the US and have yet to be restricted by state. Here is Dollar's general policy:

Geographic Limitations: At most locations, driving is restricted to the continental United States and Canada. A Canadian resident is prohibited from driving a U.S. owned vehicle into Canada. Please refer to the Local Policies for specific information regarding geographic limitations at the location where you intend to rent a DOLLAR vehicle.

Basically you need to check your local Dollar rental locations.
Car agencies are beginning to equip their cars with GPS, so they'd know if you left the state.

A lot of them (and sorry, I don't know the individual companies) will allow you to do that, but will attach a hefty surcharge. I do know that Dollar doesn't allow out of state.

That being said, it might even be cheaper to fly up there and rent a car when you get there.
    Here's a web site you can check for yourself. http://www.jomatravel.com click ';Book Travel';

    Alamo rental cars condition?

I want to know how are the cars of Alamo, Im searching specially the Sebring Convertible, what year is?Alamo rental cars condition?
First of all, pay no attention to MP, because National Car Rental and Alamo Rent a Car are the same company. I work for them.

The best way to rent a convertible from us is to make a reservation ahead of time, and request that you want a S.T.A.R. (that's our code for them). We do have a lot of the Sebrings available, but making a reservation ahead of time will guarantee you one. Our Sebring Convertibles are either '08 or '09 models.

Go to either www nationalcar.com or www.alamo.comAlamo rental cars condition?
Duh is correct - the convertibles are all 2008 or 2009. In many ways all rental car companies are the same - you usually get good service from the national companies, and who knows what might happen with small, local car rental place.

The only thing I'd disagree with Duh about is where to go to get your rental - before you rent go to neotravel.com and see if they have any good coupons or discounts. Right now you can save 20% or more.
Alamo sucks! Cars are decent, but their service is terrible. If you ever have car issues while on your rental, don't expect them to react quickly. Expect to be stuck for hours. Pay a little more for better service from National or Avis.
It all depends on where you rent it. Most cars are pretty new, in very good condition. After about a year, they sell the cars, so they are all pretty new.

Is there a rental car company where a 17 year old with an unrestricted license can rent a car?

I am sure that there are companies like that out there. He has his unrestricted drivers license, but he is 17. Also, if I rent a car, can he drive it legally?

Thanks for the help.Is there a rental car company where a 17 year old with an unrestricted license can rent a car?
There are, but they aren't going to be national companies. You'll pay a much higher price and pray that you don't have anything go wrong, even a flat tire.

Also be prepared to use a credit card.Is there a rental car company where a 17 year old with an unrestricted license can rent a car?
    ask your self that question........
Nope Enterprise will let you rent if your 21 or older otherwise you need to be 25.
Enterprise used to rent to younger people, but I don't know if anyone can rent under 18, and 25 for most places. You also need a credit card.
    no
at 17 he cannot legally enter into a contract
Nope - for most you have to be at least 21. Most companies also require the person that rents the car to be the only driver of that car. I dont know of any company in the US that will allow your 17 year old to drive the rental.
no idiot your only 18....and u are too yung to sign a contract....idiot....go steal a car
yes, but i can't tell you because then they can come after me and make me rent a car from them.
No, because you have to be 18 to enter into a contractual obligation. And most car rentals require you to be 25.
You can't rent from any of the large rental agencies. You might try to find one of the little guys around town. You wouldn't want to rent a car for anyone but yourself. There is a company call Rent a Wreck which I believe rents to younger people.
no they wont rent a car to anyone that young you actually have to be 21 or older to rent a car now days, maybe someday their will be a company that will do that, good luck.
Most rental companies in the US will not rent to someone under 21.
    Not a single one.
Um no. I don't know if it depends on the state, but around here you have to be at least 25 to rent a car.
What are you looking to rent a car for? I have run into age issues in the past in traveling for work/interviews and the company was able to set me up even though I was under the age the company would normally allow. I would talk to some companies if you would be the one insuring any payment on the car and you have a very good reason for it.
    Uhhhh..no
nope...a 17 year old cannot legally enter into a contract and that is what you are doing when you rent a car.
no. You can't drive a rental car unless you are 25 years old. Although some places may let you at 21 not really sure. You may have to ask some places.
nope plus you would have to have a credit card to put it onto in case anything was to happen to the car.
Nope, I believe that if you rent a car somone 18+ or maybe 21+ can drive it with added expensive insurance or something like that.

Driving a rental car out of the geographic restrictions?

What would the penalties be if I were to drive a rental car just about 20 miles out of the geographic restrictions set up by the rental company? Enterprise doesn't allow a car to enter Oregon due to it's geographic restrictions. But if where I'm going is only about 20 or so miles from the border of California, what penalties will I be given? All help is welcomed. Thanks.Driving a rental car out of the geographic restrictions?
Many rental vehicles today have GPS devices installed in them just for this reason.

    1. If you had an accident you would not be covered.

    2. You can be ticketed in the other state if pulled over.

    3. The vehicle at that point could be impounded.

    4. You would be responsible for all of these expenses.

    5. The rental could fine you up to $500.00 dollars plus charging about $10.00 to $15.00 for each mile that you traveled out of the state.

    6. The worst part is that they have your credit card and you would not be able to do anything about it.

  • What kind of rental car can i get in an accident?

What kind of rental car can I get in a car accident? Someone ran into my and it is completely their fault according to police report. I am filing a claim and I need to get a rental while my car is in the shop. Is there a limit to what kind of rental car I can get? Such as a $ limit or a car comparable to the one I have involved in the accident? And should I have to pay first and have insruance pay me back or should I somehow foward the bills to their insurance? Thanks for any help! What kind of rental car can i get in an accident?
When we got in an accident, we were entitled to a rental that was comparable to our vehicle that got hit. We had a 4Runner and ended up getting a TrailBlazer for a rental. You can upgrade, but then you have to pay the difference. It may depend on your insurance coverage or the coverage of the other person too. What kind of rental car can i get in an accident?
Every insurance policy is different. Call your insurance agent and find out.

Oh, and don't tell him to want a rental car to get in an accident. That sounds bad.
You will want to find out if the insurance company will pay for it first. If they do then find out what thier limit is. Other wise your stuck paying for the rental. also most often you pay first and then send them the receipts. They then reimbuse you the cost.
get a resonable priced car, you will have to pay up front most of the time. If you get an expensive car they are not oblagated to pay the high price plus you raise insurance costs for the rest of us.
it depends on your coverage, i had excellent coverage and was driving a new ford explorer and they gave me a escort, i could have paid the difference for a better grade of vehicle, but i didn't want to pay extra for anything, also i didn't have any money to pay up front for a rental car, call your ins. company to see what they will cover. good luck and i'm glad you are o.k! one more thing their insurance should have to pay if it wasn't your fault! ask your ins about that to because i just remembered when my cousin wrecked the other person's ins. paid for everything.

What if my rental car is in a wreck when someone else is driving the car?

When I travel on business for training my company asks me to rent a car and then share the car with my team. Often times the guys are just going to dinner or to the store but sometimes they are going to a bar or club in the evening. What happens if one of the guys is borrowing the car and gets in a wreck? What if my rental car is in a wreck when someone else is driving the car?
That depends. If your company has a contract with the rental company, your co-workers are normally covered even if they're not listed on the contract. This is also generally true if you are a member of the rental company's premium rental club such as Avis Preferred or Hertz #1 Club Gold. However, you must review the agreement(s) to be sure that this is true in your case.

If neither of these are the case, any additional drivers normally must be listed on the rental contract. The vehicle is uninsured if the driver is not listed on the contract. To keep yourself protected, insist that any additional drivers present their licenses at the rental counter and be added to the contract and do NOT allow anyone else to drive the car. What if my rental car is in a wreck when someone else is driving the car?
I agree with all prior posters (first time ever on this site).

Rule of thumb is to declare to the Rental Company all drivers because if someone that hasn't been declared, wrecks it...you could stand to be liable for any damages.

Check with your HR department or your purchasing department to see if your company has the relationship mentioned earlier because if that is the case you will have a lot less to worry about.
if he is not registered as a driver of the rented car and it is found that he is drunk will my friend you are f+++++....

get out that check book because you are going to pay (or someone is)

if he is registered then your credit card will cover the cousts as a gerintee but your rates may go uuuuuup.
If this guys are not listed has drivers then your the one in trouble. Usually for the company that you rent the car from offers insurance (liability or full coverage) you choose, if the additional people (team)are not listed in the drivers then your the one that is taking full responsibility. If they are listed you do not have to worry about since their the ones that wreck the car.
If you purchase insurance with rental company make sure who ever drives it is listed on the contract when you pick the car up.If you don't purchase the the insurance with car rental company than your responsible for the car no matter who drives it.You would have to make a claim on your own insurance.
What everybody else said, AND then your company is responsible to pay you for any expenses that you incur because they requested that you share it with the team. However it is your responsibility to insure that the companies liabilities are kept to a minimum when you get the insurance by listing every driver on the contract. Is it a company contract, or a personal contract that you are reimbursed for, either way don't go cheap!
It depends on the state/province and the rental agreement. Many companies require listing of all drivers. Some don't. I have never had to list my wife, for example, on any rental in Canada. As long as the driver is qualified and authorized to drive that class of vehicle, and is of the minimum age for the base insurance, there is normally not a problem. You should really check the contract each time, and, if you are told the extra occasional driver does not have to be listed, have it circled or written in on the contract to protect yourself.
Their names should be listed also on the rental agreement as drivers.
Make sure you know the rental car company's policy on extra drivers and your company's policy as well. Make sure you only allow drivers on the agreement to operate the vehicle.

Your company might have insurance and they might pay any claim.

Know what your insurance covers, ask your agent.

If you are using a company credit card they might provide supplemental insurance for you and any employee of your company operating the vehicle.

The insurance the rental company offers probably won't cover your employees when they run into a parked car after having too many beers.
I believe that when you rent a car the only person insured is you and anyone you list as a driver. So im pretty sure if anyone who is not listed as a driver gets in an accident there will be no coverage. You have to be VERY careful when using a rental. If i were you i would ask the rental company. Because if anything were to happen ... you would be responsible.

Do all rental car companies run your driving record when you pick up a car?

Or do they just make sure your license hasn't expired?Do all rental car companies run your driving record when you pick up a car?
They want to see your license and your credit card. They don't run your record.Do all rental car companies run your driving record when you pick up a car?
they just look at the license is valid, ie in date. if you get into an accident, big trouble since you committed fraud by lying.

also, if pulled over, they may impound the vehicle. i would hate to see the rental companies add on fees.
They just want to see a valid drivers license and credit card. It is not their intent or responsibility to check your driving record.
they do not run you driving record but you should have gotten a paper from the DMV stating that your license was reinstated
The latter, I've never seen one that runs your record.
    nope
nope and honestly i have never heard of a rental company doing this..

What if i drove a rental car that i was not old enough to drive?

Thing is my parents rented a car. But you must be 21. I have a school function thing that is like 3 miles from my house. They are thinking of letting me use the car. I know i will not cause an accident, i am just afraid of someone hitting me and the rental company finding out. Should i just take the car anyways? By the way i am too young to drive the carWhat if i drove a rental car that i was not old enough to drive?
If you are not 21 don't drive it. If anything happens to the car, the insurance will be null and void and your parents will be responsible if anything happens.

Seriously, don't do it, it's not worth it.What if i drove a rental car that i was not old enough to drive?
Your parents have signed a binding, legal contract for the rental car that spells out who can drive the car. They are fully responsible for it and by signing the contract have agreed to not let anyone drive it who is not qualified or does not have permission from the car rental company. Have them read the terms and conditions on their contract.

Do not drive the rental car and put your parents in a bad situation. If someone hit you while you were driving the rental car, your parents would be in serious legal trouble. Maybe they could give you a drive to the event or you could take a cab or get a ride with friends.

For more car rental tips, visit
LMAO...So, you have the capability of seeing into the future???? NO, you do NOT know that you will not cause an accident. For one, someone's parents ^^^^ are stupid!!!!!!!! Secondly, if you were caught driving the car and pulled over and do not have a license or identification, the vehicle could be impounded, you will be given numerous tickets, not be able to obtain your license when you are allowed to by LAW, and possibly be arrested because you name is NOT on the lease agreement!

Have your lazy parents take you or someone who can legally drive. Heck, have you heard of walking????
Take the car if some one hits you then you can always work out a deal to keep it secret, because they hit you and I doubt that they really want their insurance to go up and you can have you parents tell the rental company that it was a hit and run.

What is the best rental car company at Tampa International?

I am landing at 10pm on a Thursday in December and I am curious what company would be the best to rent from. The choices are: Hertz, Budget, Dollar, Avis, Thrifty

An economy size is enough and I am looking for cleanliness, price, service.

Thanks for your help! What is the best rental car company at Tampa International?
One agency you didn't mention is Enterprise. I rented from Enterprise at Tampa Airport (it's located right in the airport) and was satisfied with them. They had the best price at the time (January 2009) and I rented an economy sized car. The car (a Chevy Aveo) rode great, no problems whatsoever. The staff was friendly and informative, giving me some great directions. They even gave me some recommendations on where to eat in the Tampa area. I would highly recommend renting your car with Enterprise. What is the best rental car company at Tampa International?

How many kilometers before a rental car starts being worn out?

I have noticed that at around 10,000 kliks rental cars seemed to have faulty alignment, ravaged interiors, and a tendency to have exploding tires. Any other ideas out there? How many kilometers before a rental car starts being worn out?
That depends on the rental company and the people that rented the car. I know from personally being in the business, and renting cars, Most people don't treat them as nice as they do their own cars. With any vehicle regular maintenance is required to maintain the vehicle, Cost is always an issue with any company, most repairs are done in house, or addressed once there is a problem, Rather then doing preventative maintenance. I have found unless it is a safety issue, it won't be addressed until a customer calls to say they are broken down. Then the customer gets a new car andHow many kilometers before a rental car starts being worn out?

Am I required to get rental car insurance if I don't have my own auto insurance?

I am planning to sell my car and cancel my auto insurance. If I want to rent a car, am I required to buy their rental car insurance, since I wouldn't have any other auto insurance otherwise?Am I required to get rental car insurance if I don't have my own auto insurance?
Yes Yes and Yes! It's very important to have rental insurance. Let's say you park the car on the street, and come back and its side swipped. They are going to come after you for it But if you have insurance, it should cover it.Am I required to get rental car insurance if I don't have my own auto insurance?

you don't need to have auto insurance to rent a car. but you will most likely have to purchase there insurance. even if they dont require you to purchase it i would suggest doing so cuz you never know what might happen. its pretty cheap to no more than a few bucks a day for the minimum.
Yes, they will not let you drive the car without insurance.
I might be wrong but I think you have to have auto insurance to rent a car. I remember haveing to give my auto insurance card to the agent when I rented a car.
Rental cars come with basic insurance. If you want to be covered for any damage which might be your fault, take the additional coverage. No, it's not required, but if you run into a tree you would pay out of pocket to get it fixed.
Yeah, you are require to get it just in case you get in a car accident, but go talk to your insurance, even though you sell your car, you should keep the insurance and use that towards the rental car, it's cheaper than renter insurance.
depends on where you are located, most likey yes. It actually shouldn't cost much though.
no i don't think so, i've rented 2 times before i have auto insurance, but it doesn't cover their car...give me a break they sell seperate insurance to cover their car. but my insurance covers the daily fee for the car. not to insure it.
I'm not sure if it is required, but I would recommend it. Other wise you are responsible for any damage to the rental vehicle.
you have to carry some type of insurance on the rental car. If you don't have your own policy that the car can go under, you will have to purchase the rental insurance through the rental agency.
just to be safe, i would, but make sure you know what you're getting, also, take pics of the rental car, all over , and with the agent in the pics. Guarantee this is Very important. Save your paperwork for 1 year later. Just in case!

Nope, not a single one.Do you any rental car companys that will rent cars to 18 yearolds ?
Nope. 21 is the youngest. And even if youre 21-24, you still can only get a basic car, nothing fancy.Do you any rental car companys that will rent cars to 18 yearolds ?
they will NOT rent to 18 yrs olds you need to be 25 !!
    no
RENT-A-WRECK WILL. BUT DEPENDS ON LOCATION AND RENTAL CHARGES WILL BE HIGHER.
no but you can be a secondary on a rent a car if your parents or another adult (i think) is the primary. you'll have to pay more though...
I dont think so. Most rental companies allow the age of 23.
as far as I know, you have to be 21 at all of them. there may be some privately owned used car sales company close by that will. good luck.
nope you have to be 23 to rent a car and funny enough only 21 to rent a camper van!?
ZERO.The insurance campanies won't stand for it.
    Nope. Usually not under 24.
Most do actually you just have to pay a premium and there are only some types of cars you can rent..

Most will require insurance to be purchased as well

  • How do rental car companies make any money?

The rental car company by my bodyshop has about 10 people working in there office and rents cars from $20-$40 a day. How do they make any money? How do rental car companies make any money?
My profession is accounting, and trust me, car rental places make money. Sure, they will advertise $20 - $40 per day, but look at some of the upgrade rentals. 2 years ago, I rented a Hertz Shelby Mustang for 6 days and paid over $1,200. It was totally worth it. I had a blast with the car. If you figure that the car costs Hertz about $600 - $700 per month, the car starts to contribute to the margin after the 4th rental day per month. If they rent it for 20 days in a month, they take in $4,000 in revenue.

Most rentals are for mid-size cars to business travelers who charge the expense with a company credit card. Often, it will cost $70 - $90 per day just for the car without add-ons.

There are also other charges that are tacked on when you rent, such as supplemental collision and personal property insurance that many renters select, but often never use.How do rental car companies make any money?
I was told by a friend that works for a popular rental company they make money when they sell the vehicle at the end.

In a rental car corporate account is the company liable for any damage occurred to the vehicles?

Not necessarily. I was involved in a hit and run in a rental vehicle that was assigned to the company I worked for at the time. The company filled out an incident report and that was pretty much it. My insurance company had to deal with finding the guy who hit me and suing him for damages.

The employee can opt to purchase additional coverage for about $10.00 a day to protect themselves. In a rental car corporate account is the company liable for any damage occurred to the vehicles?
companies usually self insure on rentals - so they are right -

if someone rents for personal use under the co. account they will be liable
    sure is

The rental car company says I ran a red light. Will I get points on my license?

I have no recollection of this, and I was driving extra careful that day because 1) it was raining and 2) Im extra careful when its not my car but the camera supposedly got me. They are charging me 60 dollars which isn't too bad, but I am concerned about points on my license. They didn't even send me a picture of this violation. So about how many points will I get for this? Thanks for helping.

Serious answers please, no insults or judgments. The rental car company says I ran a red light. Will I get points on my license?
Obviously the rental place was sent a red light violation, which they paid. They looked at their records to see who had the vehicle rented during the time the ticket was issued, and it was you. They shifted the charge to you since you were responsible for the car during that time, and notified you of the charge.

The chances are the rental company is self insured, and the points will go toward them, just another cost of doing business. If you want further information about the ticket, just call and ask, I'm sure they would send you a copy if you really want to see it.The rental car company says I ran a red light. Will I get points on my license?
there are red light cameras all over the place now in major cities ... they are probably only charging you $60.00 because they are being charged $60.00 for their car with their tags running the red light. Im sure if you asked for the documentation of the even that they will provide it to you.

It would be best to pay the $60.00 by check to the issuing agency but mail the payment to the car rental company as proof of payment. Otherwise they have legal recourse.

Don't worry about points on your license, no one can prove who was driving, but the car rental company can prove who was renting the car at what date and what time. I'll bet the farm that there is some stipulation in the rental contract that you no doubt signed that makes your responsiblity for liabilities of this nature.
Request the picture!!!! They have to give you at least a copy! It will show time and date (and possible location) of the offense. You can then determine yourself if it was you or not. DO NOT PAY the rental agency prior to getting this info!!! I am not saying they are dishonest, but they could have made a mistake when looking up who was the renter of the car/truck.

If you really ran a red light, depending on where you live, yes you may get points. But if you do not have any other offenses that should not matter and the points will be gone again at some time in the future.
this is false! Do not pay the $60 this is a way for the rental car companies to get extra charges from people, unless they can actually ';prove'; this.

Unless the actual ';court'; that issued the citation contacts you and can prove it was ';you'; who ran this light, only then would you be liable, and that would be the only way you would gain or lose any ';points'; (stupid system anyway) on your license.

    so ';0'; points!
IF the rental place and/or the court can PROVE that it was you actually driving the car then yes it goes on your license. I would guess the rental agreement stipulates and requires only you having authorization to drive the car.... so yes; its all you baby.

btw... do not pay the rental company a dime. pay the court clerk ONLY! I don't give a rats azz what they say, pay the court, and only the court.

What happens when you return a rental car w/o paying? I wld prefer to get ans from ppl in rental car industry.

I rented a car for a friend, with my credit card, and he returned the car last night without paying. He told me today that he would not have the money to pay for the car for a couple of weeks. What can happen to me and/or my account? What kind of trouble can I be in if I don't have the money to cover this? What happens when you return a rental car w/o paying? I wld prefer to get ans from ppl in rental car industry.
They will charge your credit card for the cost of the rental and any damage if there was any.

Sounds like you need to dump this friend because he didn't think twice about screwing you over on this rental. Clearly he knew he wouldn't have the money and used you as a patsy.

If your card doesn't have enough room on it for the charges, they can and most likely will bill you and if you don't pay they will go into collections on you and ruin your credit. They can and will take you to court eventually if you don't pay. They can and will garnish your wages to pay for it.

Sorry but you have a crummy ';friend';.What happens when you return a rental car w/o paying? I wld prefer to get ans from ppl in rental car industry.
You know that credit card you had to give them at the beginning for a deposit? Well.. now its being charged for all the fees associated with the rental. What a great friend- i'd kick him to the curb.
They will charge you accound if there is not enough to cover it the bank will pay it and put your account overdrawn and you will incure charges
Red is exactly right - you MUST give a credit card in order to rent a car. They do not accept ANY other form of payment - CASH, DEBIT, CHECK... ALL are no good!

This is done for TWO reasons - one, in case decide NOT to pay (or keep the car for longer than you originally told them) - and secondly, for INSURANCE purposes.

In this case - all that will end up happening is that your card will be charged for the agreed upon amount (assuming he returned it with a full tank of gas, didn't exceed any mileage limitations, and with NO damage). In fact, MOST rental places HAVE overnight dropoffs - you simply park the car, and drop the keys through a slot (or into a locked box)!

IF you're card is maxed out* (beyond the initial fee) - then the creditors are called. JUST the same way as when you don't pay ANY OTHER bill...

Good luck getting the money off your friend - THAT will be the REAL challenge ;););););)

Can a rental car company charge a card you used on a previous rental?

I got into an accident. I was 100% prepared to pay the damages ($1600) in payments, like discussed with the manager. The card that the car was rented on was maxed out. They went ahead and charged a card that I had used once to extend the rental (we do monthly rentals and extend weekly). So, the only authorization they had on paper was for the original card. They only had a verbal copy and authorization on the second card. Is it legal to charge that $1600 to the second card? Can a rental car company charge a card you used on a previous rental?
They charged your card illegaly. This may be fraud. If you did not hand them the card, and sign for the that transaction on that card, you cannot be forced to honor the charge. Unless you have signed some agreement where they can charge any future rental charges on this card, you can call them and insist they reverse the charge, or just do directly to your credit card company and tell them this is an unauthorized transaztion, and they should not honor it.

Sounds like you're working with a bad company who would practice business like this! Yes you owe them money, but they're supposed to take you to court, not steal your credit card number from another business transaction.

I was told by Allstate that ';regular'; auto insurance does not cover my vehicle if I charge people to rent it. Both Allstate and State farm told me that they don't offer coverage for this kind of business. Where can I get coverage and what can I expect it to cost?I want to start a small rental car company, where can I find insurance for my vehicles?
autoinsurance.undonet.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.I want to start a small rental car company, where can I find insurance for my vehicles?
The best solution to your answer is to call a rental company and ask what type of insurance is required. Afterward, you may want to browse the yellow pages for companies that offer the needed coverage. Hertz may be a company to call as they are national and would not be threatened by Competition.

Do rental car companies always check your record? Do any allow prior reckless driving convictions?

I note that most companies say your DMV record ';may'; be checked, and disqualify renters for reckless driving convictions within 36 months.

Do they always check, or is this just a threat?

Also, are there any companies out there more tolerant of those with prior reckless driving convictions?Do rental car companies always check your record? Do any allow prior reckless driving convictions?
I have rented several cars and have never had mine checked.Do rental car companies always check your record? Do any allow prior reckless driving convictions?
It seems to me that they wouldn't worry about your record, as they have your credit card, your ins agent's #, and your signed promise to make it good if you screw up their car. PLUS, they are (probably) insured well enough to cover any losses that you OR your ins don't pay.
They always check. Why would they knowingly rent a brand new car to someone who is an obvious high risk.

Can you take a rental car when you do not have any personal vehicle or auto insurance?

I do not have any car insurance right now. I am planning to get a car rental for a month. Do I need to get some insurance for this? What happens if cop pulls me up will rental agreement be sufficient? Can you take a rental car when you do not have any personal vehicle or auto insurance?
You'll have to purchase the rental company's insurance. You can't even get insurance outside of that because you don't own a car to insure. Insurance through the rental car company is sufficient for police. Can you take a rental car when you do not have any personal vehicle or auto insurance?
The rental companies provide insurance for the car, so you will be fine if you are pulled over. The problem that is if you are in a wreck, the rental company's insurance will repair the rental, but YOU will be on the hook for the damage to the other driver's car (assuming it's your fault). In this case, it would be a good idea to purchase the supplemental insurance option. I think it only goes up to $15,000 so think about if that would be enough if you were in a serious accident and caused lots of damage and medical bills to the other driver.
Simple: You need to buy the rental companies insurance. They will offer it at the time of rental. Keep in mind that most credit card companies will cover the Collision Damage Waiver insurance (CDW) when you use their card to pay for the rental. Check with your credit card company
i am not sure about the police aspect - partly because i don't know where you live, what laws are in effect.

But when you rent a car, they OFFER you insurance.

it seems to me that that would cover it. Of course, you need a driver's license.
If you don't have insurance, buy theirs - it'll be expensive.

If you get stopped just show the cop he rental papers. It's their car.
