Yeah, different cars come in at different times of day. It depends on the rental car place. I am GUESSING that most of the cars come in at about 1-3:00 because that's how it went when I rented a car. There just is no definite answer for this. Each agency has its own hours and rates, until you actually walk in the door, there is no given time or day when one can be assured of anything. If you reserve the car in advance, chances are you will never get an upgrade as they will hold the car for you if at all possible. Walk in with no reservations might give you a better chance. The same answer for your second question, you reserve in advance, they are going to most likely have your choice. Most national agencies have many offices and as a last resort, will find one for you if your choice has not been returned in time. The time of day again, depends on the agency, but most national agencies have a good stock of cars on hand. You will find upgrades and bargains by using the internet to reserve your cars. Most of their websites have specials just for internet reservations. Getting on their mailing lists also gets you specials throught the year.
