I've noticed recently that car rental companies have recently increased their rates big time. What's going on. I now have to go to priceline to get a good deal. Why have rental cars recently raised their rates so much?
The manufactures have changed their program with rental car companies. Example is- GM sold to any rental company and had a guarantee buy back program. GM would sell cars to rental car companies and they would depreciate the vehicles out at 1% per month and then after a certain time they would buy them back. Then they would put these GM cars on what they call a smart auction or GM factory sale. This is the area GM lost most of their money. GM has changed that program, causing higher rental rates.
This is the reason why you see GM fleet sales down 75%Why have rental cars recently raised their rates so much?
I know man, my uncle uses rental cars frequently and so I know how it was and is, and it really is stupid, airport rental companies are the ones I mostly know about and it's a hard price their running at some of the businesses. There's more added miles to the drive as well which therefore charges more to what you pay and that's on top of a overpriced rental itself.
If you havent already checked the rates with Jolly Wheels Rent A Car, be sure you do. Their rates have stayed low, check them out.
